Migration FAQs

Q: What happens during the optimization process?
A: Following various situations with previous customers we decided to thoroughly review and check every new site that moves over to our platform. While this operation takes our time and it costs you some money, we believe it is absolutely needed for a long term run. We want to make sure we deliver outstanding performance and there's no other way but to review every site. This process consists of a complete inspection of your site at all levels (theme, plugins, Data Base and SEO settings). Following this inspection we'll come up with an improvement plan with the associated cost and time needed for implementation. Very often this means updates to your theme code, replacing inefficient plugins, DB cleanup and SEO suggestions. As a result your site will be resistant to huge spikes and eventually it might lead to a higher traffic (due to a better performance at all levels). For this last point to happen you are playing the most important role as you are producing the content that drives your traffic. We only give you a helping hand ;)

Hydrogen Service FAQs

Q: How do you count page views?
A: Our system is counting every load of every page form your site, no matter if you are logged-in or not into the WordPress dashboard. Compared with other statistics tools which relay on JavaScript, we do a mixed method which rely on JavaScript and log parsing. Due this fact some bot access might be counted as a pageview.
Q: Where is my cPanel user and password?
A: We are not providing cPanel to our customers as we take care of most of the operations that are done with cPanel. Instead we're providing you access to our customer dashboard, My PressLabs.
Q: Where did my .htaccess file go?
A: We are using nginx, and a carefully crafted and safe config file which allows for all standard wordpress redirections to work automatically. Therefore we don't use anymore the .htaccess file.

Pricing FAQs

Q: How can I pay for your service?
A: We are accepting payments using PayPal and all major credit-cards (MasterCard and VISA). The payments are done from My PressLabs.
Q: What will I see on the first invoice?
A: The first invoice is a bit different because we charge per calendar month and there is a high chance that we'll start billing you during the month and not exactly on the 1st. This is why your first invoice will contain a fraction of the monthly fee, proportional with the remaining days of that month. The included page views will also be proportional with the part of the month you're paying for. This invoice will also contain the optimization fee agreed according with the complexity of your site.
Q: When do I pay for extra page views?
A: Page views are paid in the next billing cycle. This means that each invoice (except the first one) will contain the monthly fee paid in advance for the whole current month, together with the extra pageviews (if the case) for the previous month.
